Family Promise is coming to St. Bede on Sunday July 18th and Sunday July 25th. The families will be in our church for 1 week. Each day they come in at 5:00pm and eat dinner; watch movies or play board games; pack up lunches for the next day and spend the night. Then the following morning they eat breakfast and leave for The Girls and Boys Club and work.
Would you like to help out??? We would love to have you make a meal, buy groceries for breakfasts or lunches; or as a family you can come in and serve a meal and eat with our families, this a great opportunity to get children involved in volunteering…they can play board games with the children or read stories to little ones.
The other volunteer project is spending a night with our families, we use the Nursery, and so you have your own room and bathroom area. We have beds and you can even use our sheets, just take them home and wash and return.
What kind of people will you meet??…Nice people, hard working people, people that are just having a very very hard time keeping their families together and their dignity. This is a side of homelessness that you don’t see on the news, these people are not the chronic homeless; our families have passed drug testing and criminal back ground checks.
